What Is #CHALLENGE95?

#CHALLENGE95 is an easy way for you to make a massive difference for those who struggle with distance daily. Whether a beginner or a pro, use your wheels to raise funds and empower African school children to follow their dreams.

The Cause

For many schoolchildren in the developing world, walking is their primary mode of transportation. Their daily challenge is not one of sport but one of survival. The seemingly simple task of going to school is sometimes impossible. World Bicycle Relief builds and distributes specially-designed, rugged bicycles to schoolchildren in need so they can access education and create better opportunities for their future.

Set Your Goal

Last year supporters in the UK funded more than 600 bicycles for students by doing everything from a 50 mile ride with friends to a trip around the world.

Challenge 95 is a simple way to make a big difference with two wheels. All you have to do is think of a challenge, ask friends and family for support and raise £95 to change the life of a school child in rural Africa. World Bicycle Relief mobilises school children in countries such as Kenya, Zambia and South Africa by distributing simple, durable bicycles connecting them with education and economic opportunity. £95 is all it takes to put one of these specially designed Buffalo bicycles into the hands of a student enabling them to get to school. Your mini-adventure could make a massive difference to a student in some of the world’s poorest places. You don't have to break any records or suffer for days in the saddle, the more creative the idea the better.

Challenge yourself, your school or your friends to raise funds and mobilize students as they fight to finish school, follow their dreams and change their world.

ABOUT WORLD BICYCLE RELIEF

We provide specially-designed, locally assembled bicycles to entrepreneurs, healthcare workers and students across rural Africa through sustainable work-to-own and study-to-own programs. We also train field mechanics to ensure access to maintenance and spare parts.

To meet the growing demand for high-quality bicycles in the developing world, World Bicycle Relief's social enterprise arm, Buffalo Bicycle Ltd. provides bikes directly to non-governmental organizations, corporations and individuals in need of affordable, sustainable transportation.

The Buffalo Bicycle

Buffalo bicycles are unquestionably the strongest bikes in Africa and are designed especially for the harsh terrain in rural sub-Saharan countries. They are built with heavy-gauge steel, reinforced spokes and a rack ready to carry 100kg+ loads. They are also compatible with locally available spare parts to ensure they can be easily repaired.
